As we experienced three years ago in Dubrovnik with a local tour guide, there is passion among Croats about their history, particularly the most recent war in the 1990’s. Dorja’s experience as a youngster was becoming a refugee in her country because of the Serbs invading and occupying her hometown. Zadar is where she lives, but her heart is in her hometown of Gracac.

Besides the history it is a wonderful small, walkable town. And the town has its own beverage. A wonderful maraschino cherry liqueur.
