Safari-Day 2

An early morning call. The group left the lodge at 06:35. Ozzie the guide took the group a different direction and deeper into the reserve.

We arrived back at the lodge at 10:25 to be told the bus was picking us up at 10:30. We packed quickly and then waited and waited. Finally the call came that the bus was at the gate. Ozzie drives us the 2.5 km to the gate. No bus. A couple of phone calls later reveals that the bus is at the wrong gate. Another 30 minute wait. Finally on the bus only to learn that there are more of the group to pick up at a different reserve. Those poor folks had been waiting an hour and 40 minutes for us to arrive. The group of 30 leaves. But we are so off schedule all there is time to do is eat lunch and get back on the bus. There was a 15 minute stop at Tsitsikamma National Park for pictures of the famous bridge. On to Hotel Knysna Log Inn for the night.

I dispute Google Maps contention that this is a four-star property. Two star might be closer to correct. Joe and I skipped the group dinner since we had finished lunch at four. Instead we hung out in the bar at the hotel. Three double scotches and three ciders were US$21. including tip. Then it was off to bed to await the 06:00 wake up call.

Oh. And we missed the aurora. But I think the safari was better.

  1. Love the safari photos! Reminds me of probably my most favorite trip.

    1. Two drives was not enough. But I will have to settle for that for now.
