Day 7-Transiting the Panama Canal

This was a first for Joe and me. It also fits with the modern wonders theme of the cruise.

I will tell the story through pictures

We passed several ships awaiting their turn to transit the canal
Approaching the entrance
Puente Atlantico
Left goes to the “new” canal. We are taking the right fork
Gatun Locks
The Mitsubishi locomotives replaced the GE locomotives to pull the ship through the locks. The GE locomotives were almost 100 years old when they were replaced.
