Ushuaia

The ship arrived shortly before 7 AM. Joe and I took our time getting ready and then had breakfast. We left the ship and were greeted by numerous passenger ships and a cargo ship at the dock. Ushuaia is a very busy place.

Ushuaia from the pier

I requested an Uber and we headed for Ushuaia Golf Club, a twenty minute or so ride from the port. Ushuaia Golf Club is the southernmost golf course in the world. So of course Joe and I had to play it. I had planned for this and packed golf balls, tees and a golf towel in anticipation of playing. The weather cooperated and we played the nine hole course with rental clubs and a trolley. I lost one ball on the second hole. And Joe finished with two balls (you will have to ask him how many he had when the round began). Guillermo was our host and a fabulous one at that. I had two or three encounters via the course website and WhatsApp so Guillermo was ready for us. It seemed like the course catered to cruise ship passengers seeking a different excursion. It was a flat course except the par 5 number 3. So not too difficult but the greens were a bit diabolical.

From 5 fairway looking up to #3 green.
Cheers! A local Patagonia beer.
A picture of the $2. pencil. I did not pack a pencil and therefore had to purchase one at the golf course.

Having played the northernmost Tromso Golfklubb in August it was fitting to play the southernmost golf course given the unique opportunity. Now back to cruising.

The ship will overnight in Ushuaia and the sail the Beagle Channel tomorrow.
