Humans on the island-approximately 3500. Sheep on the island-700,000.
Port Stanley has the distinction of being the most missed cruise ship port. And we made it! It’s a tender port so it was 20 or so minutes from the ship to the dock.
I chose a ship’s excursion to Volunteer Point. The Point is home to three species of Penguins. On land we were sorted into groups of four and met our driver Len and his 4×4. The trip to Volunteer Point was one hour 45 minutes. The last five miles were over the very bumpy grass. Forty minutes to travel five miles!
But the trip was worth it

We were able to observe the penguins for almost two hours. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of a Gentoo Penguin.
The ship’s captain shortened the port call by an hour to stay ahead of an approaching weather system. After a beer and Scotland v. England on the television we headed for the dock and went back to the ship on the final tender of the afternoon.

We opted for an early dinner in Discoveries. Joe had fish and chips. I enjoyed the red snapper special.

Sea Day tomorrow.
