Aberdeen

Aberdeen, Scotland, known as the “Granite City,” is famed for its silver-grey stone architecture that sparkles in sunlight. Situated on the North Sea coast, it’s a key hug for the oil and gas industry, with a rich maritime heritage. Aberdeen is a gateway to castles, whisky trails, and rugged Scottish landscapes.

The chosen excursion was Glen Garioch (pronounced “geery” in Gaelic). A small batch distillery.

There was a tour of the distillery. This is one of the few that still dries the malted barley on the floor, turning it every four hours for a couple of days.

The newer still, named for the one of the original family members who began the distillery.
The locals pride themselves on their local dialect.
And of course, a tasting!

Back to the ship for a quick change and off to the AzAmazing evening. The Red Hot Chili Pipers were the entertainment.

Singing, highland dancing and instruments.

The concert was a little loud for my taste. But I enjoyed the band’s take on bagpipes with rock and roll.

Back to the ship. Early bedtime. Golf tomorrow.
