Ålesund, Norway

A stunning coastal town celebrated for its Art Nouveau architecture and dramatic natural beauty. Rebuilt after a major fire in 1904, the town features colorful buildings with intricate designs, creating a uniquely charming atmosphere. Funding for the rebuilding came in large part from Kaiser Wilhelm as Ålesund was a favorite vacation place of the Kaiser.

Today was the first round of golf. Played at challenging Ålesund Golf Club.

The Clubhouse
Buggies were provided for the round. But they are controlled by an app which means the cart does not need a key. Wrong! Marianne and Joe’s refused to move on the sixth hole, necessitating a push from the other couple and a trip out from the clubhouse for the course manager and Perry Golf representive to provide us a key.
Unique tee markers. Metal. The number represents the course distance in meters. Good idea. No colors or gender association.

At the turn scrumptious baguettes were served. Marianne and Joe both chose smoked salmon and scrambled egg.

But wait, there’s more. After the round was a buffet of food (meat balls, salad, chicken wings, bean salad and on and on).

The golf course in relation to Alesund.

A group picture was taken before boarding the bus to go back to the ship.

Reservations for Prime C, one of the specialty restaurants were cancelled due to lack of hunger. A warm shower and rest were the order of the day.

Sea Day tomorrow.
