A Visitor

Toni came to St. Andrews to visit. She arrived in Edinburgh this morning from Kansas City, took the train to Leuchars and Marianne met her at the train station. Toni was also on the 2024 World Cruise and will be on the Norway-Scotland back-to-back.

Today’s early weather was chilly, windy and rainy. Yuck!

A visit in the apartment was followed by a walk about. The Memorial outside the apartment was the first stop.

Then off to The Old Course. On Sundays The Old Course is parkland, enjoyed by all. A trek to the Swilcan Bridge for the obligatory picture (oops. The picture is on Toni’s phone). Then time to check out the merch. The Open store and The St. Andrews Links store. A few trinkets. Caught up to Joe at Dunvegan for lunch. Cullen skink soup was the choice for Toni and Marianne. A first for both and quite tasty.

Time for Toni to head back to Edinburgh. A cruise down North Street and back on South Street to allow Toni to see more of the town before heading to Leuchars. It’s a good thing the train ends at Waverly Station in Edinburgh. Otherwise poor Toni might sleep through her stop.

Home to pack. I had forgotten how popular St. Andrews is on Sundays. There were Highland Games near the Old Course Hotel and a plethora of tourists today. Parking spaces were at a premium. It was necessary to circle the block twice and check public parking to find one. But once the tourists cleared out the car was moved closer to the apartment. Estimated 9:15 AM departure to Leith port tomorrow. Time to cruise!
