The day began with a tee time at The Himalayas. Founded in 1867, this is the course of the St. Andrews Ladies’ Putting Club. We began promptly at 10:24. Although designated as “mandatory family fun,” Carrie chose not to participate but to be scorekeeper and official photographer.

Marianne started “hot,” with four birdies on the first four holes. She forced her fellow competitors to grind.

Joe came on strong on the last holes of the front nine, but it wasn’t enough. Marianne 22, Joe 23, Jay 26.

Everyone birdied 10, parred 11, birdied 12 and parred 13. Marianne faltered on 17 with a bogey. Joe and Jay tied the back nine and it was a tie for 18. Joe wins the tiebreaker with a lower score on the second nine and is the Champion.

The group split two by two. Joe and Carrie went to lunch.

Jay and Marianne headed for a tee time at the Jubilee course. Jay used Stevie as his caddie. They met when Jay played The Old Course. Marianne was given Jamie. Nice young man. But not the caddie that Allen had been two days earlier. The other players in the group were Paul, a native Manx from London and Ted, a sixth grade math teacher from east Texas. Ted’s wife Nicole walked with the group and was a really good ball finder. The wind was still 20-25 mph and into the player on the outward nine. The Himalayas was not a good putting warmup for Jubilee. The Jubilee greens were a tad bit faster. The course was rough, literally. Thanks to the caddie Marianne never lost a ball, but boy there were some tough lies. Jay played well.

After the round contacts were exchanged in case of future Masters ticket lottery selections. Then it was time to eat.

Time for Jay and Carrie to load up and head to Edinburgh to overnight before their early morning flight. Sad Mama.
