Windy

Today was family golf at The Strathtyrum. The Strathryrum was opened in 1993. It was designed to complement the tougher championship layouts in the St. Andrews Links Trust. There are “only” 15 bunkers. The greens are large with slopes and burrows.

Jay walked with a trolley and Joe and I rode in a buggy. It was a very long, very windy round. Sustained winds were 20 mph with gusts over 25 mph. The wind kicked my butt. It seemed like every hole played into the wind. Jay’s too. Jay’s net on balls was plus two. The wispy rough does a good job of hiding balls. Of note was a dead sea gull on one hole. Also of note is that folks bring their dogs along for the round.

The nineteenth hole was good. One table of ladies enjoyed their afternoon tea. We had other ideas. Beer and scotch.

Home, shower and dinner. Carrie, Jay and I went to The Criterion and enjoyed meat pies and other goodies. Joe stayed home to wait for leftovers.

Jay had his first taste of haggis. He ate one and brought the other one home to Joe. Such a considerate son.
There was a group of pipers piping across the street when we arrived home.

Only two more days in St. Andrews.
