I booked a Street Food Tour with a local tour company. Finding the meeting place was challenging after negotiating a ten minute cab ride down from $20. to $10., only to find out the port shuttle drop was actually closer to the meeting point.

Two other couples began the tour. One gregarious couple from northern Scotland and another couple apparently from France. They were very French and never looked our way or spoke to us. The tour was in French and English by a Thai. My brain still recognizes some French vocabulary after all these years.

I didn’t get a picture of the second item or location. But it was my favorite. A fig Newton-like pastry filled with a local banana filling

The fifth item was a fusion bowl. No picture because Joe and I were running out of time. We didn’t want to become one of this stories of passengers chasing a cruise ship from port to port.

The tour included the history of British and French colonialism. With Reunion Island, Mauritius is a country with a parliamentary government.
Back to the ship with a refreshment stop. Four days at sea to come.
