Kariega River Lodge

An hour and a half drive from Port Elizabeth brought us to Kariega River Lodge for one night. Noombe and Sam greeted us and took us to our rooms. We were advised to keep the door closed otherwise the monkeys might get in and “tear things up.”

Our first big five on the drive from the main road to the lodge.

It is noon as I write this. Two hours to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the river until lunch is served.

Lunch was delicious. Now we are off for the afternoon drive

Giraffe and zebra
Blue Wildebeest
Springbok
Rainy Bird
White Rhino
Cape Buffalo
Pause and refresh! That’s Ozzie, our guide.
Sunset
Two adolescent male lions

A delicious dinner followed and then bedtime. 06:10 call in the morning.
