Dubai

The morning was a visit to FAYY Health. Thanks to Dr. Heather for putting us in touch with Dr. Murat. The service was so good, Joe wouldn’t mind returning for tuneups!

With a few minutes to spare we set out for our “Bedouin Dinner in the Dunes.” Probably one of my favorite excursions of this voyage.

Six of us loaded into each Toyota SUV 4-wheel drive vehicle and headed into the desert.

There was a drive-through at a camel racing track. Did you know that robots are used instead of live jockeys?
This was the view from the “pit stop” before…
Air was let out of the tires and we headed into the desert for dinner
We stopped for pictures and sunset.
Pictures with camels
And a sunset
And then we arrived at the oasis in the desert
A camel ride!
Dinner followed by entertainment
The entertainer wore a skirt that was lighted and he twirled it.
Fire twirling dude on the stage, a beautiful moon in the upper right and Steve from Bluffton, SC photobombing!
And last, but certainly not least, a belly dancer

Time to head back to the ship. One of the few ship’s excursions I have taken that was worth the money.

A few pictures of Dubai at night

The W Hotel (through the window of the SUV)
The skyline from the ship.
More skyline.

Tonight and tomorrow, 60 or so World Cruisers leave. Some to reunite with the ship along the Africa route, others to do various overlands and meet the ship in Venice, IT. Still others leave the voyage to go home. It was a very generous option from Azamara when it was determined that it would not be safe to traverse the Red Sea and Suez Canal. Lots of wonderful crew leave here too. Bye to Blaise, Johnny, JR, Jennifer and so many others who have helped to make this voyage memorable.
