Singapore,  city-state located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, about 85 miles (137 kilometres) north of the Equator. It consists of the diamond-shaped Singapore Island and some 60 small islets; the main island occupies all but about 18 square miles of this combinedarea. The main island is separated from Peninsular Malaysia to the north by Johor Strait, a narrow channel crossed by a road and rail causeway that is more than half a mile long. The southern limits of the state run through Singapore Strait, where outliers of the Riau-Lingga Archipelago—which forms a part of Indonesia—extend to within 10 miles of the main island.

Two days in fabulous Singapore. Joe and I opted for the HOHO bus and bought a two day pass.

We began with the yellow route which travels a ways outside the urban center and passes the Botanic Garden. As we started late, we didn’t get off at any stops.

Fabulous buildings
An iconic heritage mosque near Little India. Serves migrant Muslims..
A school. It’s school break time right now.

Day 2. I did the HOHO red route by myself. With its proximity to the equator Singapore is very warm. Several days of heat was taking a toll on Joe.

Contrasting architecture
Sir Mariamann Temple. A Hindu Temple in Singapore’s Chinatown
Marina Bay Hotel. What a beautiful area of Singapore
Lots of greenery on buildings and in parks
Chinatown. There’s a very large Chinese market across the street from this sign. I had Singapore $ left that I used to purchase a suitcase to replace one that was damaged in transit from Augusta to Fort Lauderdale in December.
And so begins Segment 7 of the World Cruise. This will be the last segment for 50+ World Travelers who have opted to “take the money and run”. Azamara made a very generous offer due to having to reroute around Africa.
