Auckland

February 15-Day 41, I think.

What a beautiful city. But not enough time to enjoy it.

I met Katy for a big hug, bagel and coffee. We walked around the harbor.

Catchy name for a fish monger.

Joe and I then headed to Waiheke Island, home to 30+ small wineries. Our guided tour included two of the oldest wineries and lunch.

Goldie Estate Winery was gifted to The University of Auckland by the original owners. 30,000 bottles a year are produced and most are sold at the winery. Joe and I bought a bottle of the Syrah which will not be coming back to the States!

Our third winery was Obsidian. Joe and I purchased three yummy bottles from this winery.

Lunch was at Three Seven Two a beachside restaurant in Onetangi Beach. My flounder was delish!

A wonderful tour. We almost didn’t make the departure. The 16:00 ferry to Auckland was at capacity and the 16:30 ferry was cancelled. Fortunately there is more than one ferry company between Auckland and Waiheke. So $33. and we were on our way back to Auckland and beginning a segment with Katy and her friend Sarah.
