Our berth in the very industrial port of Lima changed overnight. A very annoyed Captain Carl announced Wednesday evening that the harbor pilot would not allow bunkering in the slip where we arrived. The cargo ship next to us was too close. So about 11:00 pm the ship relocated and the bunkering barge was along side most of the day. That’s a good thing because the trip to Easter Island is 2200 or so nautical miles and will take five days.
Joe and I stayed on board Thursday and out of the way. He wasn’t excited about riding a bus for an hour to look at trinkets and “sombreros.” So we read, surfed the internet, filled out visa paperwork for Easter Island and French Polynesia and ate. We met some “newbies” from Vancouver at lunch. I applied for my visa for Vietnam in an effort to stay ahead on the Visas.
Five days at sea ahead. Maybe more depending on the seas when we reach Hanga Road.
