Sea Days-Days 4 & 5

Not much to “talk” about. There was a time change overnight and I missed the memo. So Joe and I were early for the 10:00 am lecture. We went to the breakfast buffet to wait until the “right” time.

Nigel Marven, self described “F List celebrity,” was the speaker. He’s a naturalist known well in Britain ( I guess the U.S. equivalent would be Marlin Perkins or Jim Fowler). His talk “It Shouldn’t Happen to a Wildlife Presenter,” was entertaining.

Eleven o’clock on sea days is the intermediate bridge lesson. Today’s topic was “Borderline Opening the Bidding at the First or Second Position.”

Next up was Trivia. There is a voyage-long contest. The team I am on is not doing particularly well. But there is still plenty of time. If anyone is following this blog and would like to join one of the “legs” of the cruise the team would welcome some “new blood.”

A group lunch for the World Voyagers was next. We dined with Hilary and Peter from Marietta, Georgia. 188 folks remaining.

I attended another guest presentation about Leopoldo and Loeb. It was a notorious murder case in the 1920’s.

Tuesday was similar to Monday. There was a spectacular brunch in the main dining room. I ate TOO much. The 11:00 bridge lesson was “private” because no one else came.

The 12:15 trivia team did better today. But two of the answers were questionable: What planet is about the size of the United States? and what color is a baseball umpire uniform. I am pleased to say that cruising has helped my trivia. My team was only one of two to correctly answer “Where was the first World Cup played?” Because of our cruise to South America in early 2023 I knew the answer.

I played in the hosted bridge game in the afternoon. Linda from Northern California was a gracious partner. And then it was time for dinner. This evening we dined with Jeannette and Paul(?) from Ontario (186 remaining).

Early bedtime for an early muster to tour a few highlights of Puerto Limon, Costa Rica.

  1. I love trivia! I knew the baseball ump uniform colors but not the planet size
